The Executive Managements of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and the National Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC) are collaborating to deepen sound risk management and early warning systems in the financial services industry.

The partnership was formalized during a courtesy visit by NCGC's MD/CEO, Mr. Bonaventure Okhaimo, and his management team to NDIC's MD/CE, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday in Abuja. Discussions centered on strengthening frameworks for banking sector resilience.

The NCGC focuses on unlocking access to credit through risk-sharing mechanisms that support businesses and individuals. Conversely, the NDIC is committed to safeguarding depositors' funds and promoting confidence in the banking system, thereby strengthening financial intermediation and supporting inclusive economic development.

The two Chief Executives agreed to leverage their complementary mandates to promote Unified Risk Management and Early Warning Systems. This coordinated approach aims to reinforce the resilience of the banking system while expanding access to credit for businesses and individuals.

The partnership addresses a critical need: early identification of emerging risks enables timely intervention, preventing potential systemic threats. By combining the NCGC's credit risk expertise with the NDIC's depositor protection mechanisms, both institutions can create a more robust financial safety net.

This collaborative framework demonstrates Nigeria's commitment to building a resilient financial system capable of supporting sustainable economic growth. The partnership's success depends on continuous information sharing, joint monitoring of industry trends, and coordinated policy responses to emerging challenges in the financial services sector.
