The NDIC celebrated exceptional performance at its annual staff awards, recognising individuals and teams who made significant contributions to depositor protection over the past year.
The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation held its annual Excellence Awards Night, celebrating staff and teams whose contributions during an exceptionally demanding year significantly advanced the Corporation’s mission of depositor protection and banking system stability.
This year’s theme — “Resilience in Service” — acknowledged the extraordinary workload carried by NDIC staff throughout the Heritage Bank resolution, during which hundreds of staff members worked extended hours across months to verify claims and process disbursements for over three million depositors.
Award Categories
Awards were presented across 12 categories, including the Chairman’s Award for Distinguished Service, awarded to the team that led the Heritage Bank rapid verification exercise; the Innovation Award, recognising the technology unit that developed the batch payment processing system; and the Public Awareness Award for the “Your Deposit, Your Right” campaign team.
A Message from the MD
Addressing staff at the ceremony, the Managing Director emphasised that the NDIC’s results are only possible because of the dedication of its people. He announced a review of compensation and benefits benchmarking to be completed in Q1 2026, in recognition of the increased demands placed on staff during the resolution period.
